Battle, who hails from Liberty City, leaped into the spotlight as artistic director in July 2011. Now in his second season, the Julliard graduate is elated to return back home.

"I'm somebody who doesn't forget where he came from," Battle said. "It's not just because of sentimentality, but I need to remember where I came from in order to do the job that I'm doing."

The Arsht Center engagement features Miami native Jamar Roberts and 30 extraordinary dancers.

The New World School of the Arts graduate is showing today's youth that you can achieve your goal when you are passionate about your gift.

"I kind of found that dance kind of jelled with my natural innate energy that I have," Roberts said.
